What do I mean by treating your job search like a sales position?

In cold outreach, you have to have a plan. Hitting the submit my resume is not a plan, especially during the current environment. Your resume will get sent to an endless stack to nowhere.

One part of the plan for your job search should look something like this.

Make a list of 100 – 200 companies that you would like to work with.

Find the top decision-maker that would hire for your desired position.

Find their email address and phone number. Many free and paid services will help you with this.

Think about what problems you could potentially solve for the company.

Craft a series of emails that address the problems you could solve and the benefits you could bring.

Make your emails about them.

Continue to follow up with the contact until they decide to meet with you, or tell you no.

You will get interviews using this method, and you could land your next dream position.
